Comparison review
Sony Xperia 1 II has a general score of 91, which is a little bit better than the Huawei P40's global score of 86.4. Although Sony Xperia 1 II and Huawei P40 were released only a few months apart, Sony Xperia 1 II's design is just a bit heavier but also a bit thinner than Huawei P40. These devices have Android OS (operating system), but the Sony Xperia 1 II has newer 11 version and Huawei P40 has Android 10 version, so it provides a lot of extra features and enhanced performance.
Sony Xperia 1 II features a sharper screen than Huawei P40, because it has a lot better resolution of 1644 x 3840, a little larger display and a much greater pixels quantity per inch of display. Xperia 1 II and Huawei P40 both count with similar processors, and although the Huawei P40 has 2 GB lesser RAM memory, they both have the same number of cores.
Huawei P40 takes much better photographs and videos than Sony Xperia 1 II, because although it has a smaller aperture which is not nice for shooting photographs and/or video in poorly lited environments, and they both have the same (4K) video quality and the same 60 fps video frame rates, the Huawei P40 also counts with a back-facing camera with a lot higher resolution and a way bigger sensor.
The Xperia 1 II has a lot bigger memory capacity to install games and applications than Huawei P40, because it has 256 GB internal memory and a slot for an external memory card that holds a maximum of 1000 GB. Sony Xperia 1 II counts with a little better battery life than Huawei P40, because it has a 5% greater battery size.
