Comparison review
The Xperia 1 III has a general score of 93.3, which is a lot better than HTC U11's general score of 77.6. Although the Xperia 1 III is notably newer than the HTC U11, it is just a bit thicker and a bit heavier. The Xperia 1 III counts with just a bit better hardware performance than HTC U11, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Xperia 1 III also has 8 GB more RAM.
Xperia 1 III features a bit better looking screen than HTC U11, because it has a little higher display density, a higher resolution of 1644 x 3840 and a larger screen. Xperia 1 III captures just a bit better videos and photos than HTC U11, and although they both have a F1.7 diafragm aperture, the same resolution back camera and the same 3840x2160 (4K) video resolution, the Xperia 1 III also has faster 120 frames per second video frame rates and a much bigger camera sensor providing a much better image quality.
The Xperia 1 III features a way bigger storage for apps and games than HTC U11, because it has a SD extension slot that admits up to 1 TB and 192 GB more internal memory. The Sony Xperia 1 III features a very superior battery performance than HTC U11, because it has 4500mAh of battery capacity.
Although Sony Xperia 1 III is a better device, it is way more expensive than the HTC U11, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as HTC U11. So if you want that extra features and specs, you can buy Sony Xperia 1 III, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and buy the HTC U11, resigning some features and specifications.
