Xperia 1 III is a bit better than Microsoft Surface Duo 2, getting a general score of 93.3 against 85.3. Although the Xperia 1 III and the Microsoft Surface Duo 2 were released only 3 months apart, the Xperia 1 III design is notably thicker but also a lot lighter. These devices have the same Android 11 OS, so they should give identical operating system features.

The Sony Xperia 1 III counts with a little better hardware performance than Microsoft Surface Duo 2, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Sony Xperia 1 III also has a larger amount of RAM memory. The Xperia 1 III features just a bit better looking screen than Microsoft Surface Duo 2, because although it has a much smaller display, it also counts with a bit higher 1644 x 3840 resolution and a lot better screen density.

Sony Xperia 1 III features a bit better camera than Microsoft Surface Duo 2, and although they both have a same size diafragm aperture, the same 3840x2160 video quality and the same resolution back facing camera, the Sony Xperia 1 III also has better video frame rates. Sony Xperia 1 III features a superior memory to install games and applications than Microsoft Surface Duo 2, because it has more internal memory and a slot for an SD memory card that supports a maximum of 1 TB.

The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 and Xperia 1 III have similar batteries, although the Microsoft Surface Duo 2 has just 4449mAh of battery capacity instead of 4500mAh.

Although Xperia 1 III is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Microsoft Surface Duo 2, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Microsoft Surface Duo 2. So if you want that extra specs, you can buy the Xperia 1 III, but if you don't you can save some dollars and get the Microsoft Surface Duo 2, letting go some specifications.
