The Sony Xperia 1 III has an overall score of 93.3, which is much better than Xiaomi Mi 8's score of 83.3. Sony Xperia 1 III's body is way newer than the Xiaomi Mi 8's, but it is just a little bit heavier and a little thicker. Both phones in this review come with Android OS (Operating System), but the Sony Xperia 1 III has a newer 11 version while Xiaomi Mi 8 has Android 10 version, so it counts with a lot of extra features and enhanced performance.
The Sony Xperia 1 III has a bit faster processing unit than Xiaomi Mi 8, and although they both have a Octa-Core processing unit, the Sony Xperia 1 III also has a larger amount of RAM. Sony Xperia 1 III features a slightly better screen than Xiaomi Mi 8, because it has a much higher 1644 x 3840px resolution, a way better display pixel density and a little bit bigger screen.
The Xperia 1 III counts with a much greater memory capacity for applications and games than Xiaomi Mi 8, and although they both have exactly the same internal memory, the Xperia 1 III also has a SD card slot that admits a maximum of 1 TB. The Xperia 1 III takes clearer videos and photos than Xiaomi Mi 8, and although they both have the same (4K) video resolution and a back camera with a 12 megapixels, the Xperia 1 III also has a much bigger back-facing camera sensor providing a lot better image quality, better 120 frames per second video frame rates and a larger diafragm aperture to capture better photos in low light environments.
The Sony Xperia 1 III features greater battery duration than Xiaomi Mi 8, because it has a 4500mAh battery capacity against 3400mAh.
