Comparison review

Sony Xperia 1 is a little bit better than Google Pixel 3 XL, with a global score of 82.6 against 80.7. Even though the Sony Xperia 1 and the Google Pixel 3 XL were released with only 7 months difference, the Sony Xperia 1 design is just a little lighter but also just a little bit thicker. The Xperia 1 has a bit more vivid display than Google Pixel 3 XL, because it has a higher resolution of 1644 x 3840px, a quite bigger display and a little bit higher quantity of pixels per screen inch.

The Sony Xperia 1 counts with a much bigger memory for applications and games than Google Pixel 3 XL, because it has a slot for an external memory card that supports up to 512 GB and 128 GB internal memory. The Xperia 1 has a bit more powerful processing unit than Google Pixel 3 XL, and although they both have a Octa-Core CPU, the Xperia 1 also has more RAM memory.

Xperia 1 and Google Pixel 3 XL both have very similar cameras, because although the Google Pixel 3 XL has a smaller aperture which is not good for low light photos and video, and they both have the same (4K) video resolution, it also counts with a more mega-pixels back camera, a larger back camera sensor which offers a better image and video quality and better 30 frames per second video frame rates.

The Google Pixel 3 XL counts with a bit longer battery duration than Sony Xperia 1, because it has a 3 percent greater battery capacity.

Although Xperia 1 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Google Pixel 3 XL, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Google Pixel 3 XL. So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy the Xperia 1, else you can save some dollars and get the Google Pixel 3 XL, giving up some specifications.
