Xperia 1 is a bit better than the HTC U Ultra, getting a overall score of 82.6 against 77. Xperia 1 is a newer phone than the HTC U Ultra, although it's just a bit thicker and just a bit heavier. Xperia 1 has a bit superior processing unit than HTC U Ultra, because it has a higher number of cores (and also faster) and 2 GB more RAM memory.
Xperia 1 features a brighter screen than HTC U Ultra, because it has a quite bigger display, a higher 1644 x 3840 pixels resolution and a little bit higher number of pixels in each display inch. HTC U Ultra takes clearer videos and photos than Sony Xperia 1, because although it has a smaller aperture which is not favorable for capturing pictures and/or video in low-light environments, and they both have a same resolution back camera and the same 3840x2160 (4K) video quality, the HTC U Ultra also counts with higher video frame rate and a bigger camera sensor providing a higher image quality.
The HTC U Ultra features a little bit better memory for games and applications than Xperia 1, because although it has only 64 GB internal memory, it also counts with a SD memory slot that allows a maximum of 1,95 TB. Xperia 1 counts with a bit longer battery life than HTC U Ultra, because it has 3330mAh of battery capacity instead of 3000mAh.
The Sony Xperia 1 costs more money than the HTC U Ultra, but you can get a better phone for that few more dollars.
