Huawei Mate X is a bit better than the Xperia 1, having an 89.4 score against 82.6. Even being the best in this review, the Huawei Mate X construction is way heavier and a lot thicker than Xperia 1. The Xperia 1 has a better display than Huawei Mate X, because although it has a little smaller display, it also counts with a quite better 1644 x 3840px resolution and a lot more pixels per inch in the display.
The Sony Xperia 1 has a little bit better processing power than Huawei Mate X, although it has less RAM, they both have a Octa-Core CPU. The Huawei Mate X counts with a much bigger storage to install applications and games than Xperia 1, because although it has no SD memory slot, it also counts with 384 GB more internal storage capacity.
Sony Xperia 1 shoots clearer photographs and videos than Huawei Mate X, because although it has a much smaller sensor taking less light and duller colors and a much less megapixels camera, it also counts with a larger camera aperture to capture better images and video in low light environments. Huawei Mate X has longer battery lifetime than Xperia 1, because it has a 35% greater battery size.
Although Huawei Mate X is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Sony Xperia 1, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Sony Xperia 1. If you prefer to save a few dollars, you can buy the Sony Xperia 1, and give up a couple features, but you'll get the most out of your money.
