Xperia 1 is slightly better than the Motorola Moto G9 Play, with an 82.6 score against 76.7. The Xperia 1 construction is somewhat thinner and somewhat lighter than the Motorola Moto G9 Play, although it was released a bit more further than a year before. The Sony Xperia 1 counts with much more memory to store more apps and games than Moto G9 Play, and although they both have an external memory card slot that holds up to 512 GB, the Sony Xperia 1 also has 128 GB internal memory. The Xperia 1 features a little bit better hardware performance than Motorola Moto G9 Play, and although they both have a Octa-Core processing unit, the Xperia 1 also has 2 GB more RAM.
The Moto G9 Play features a much better camera than Xperia 1, because although it has a smaller aperture which is worse for capturing pictures or videos in low light environments, and they both have the same 1920x1080 (Full HD) video resolution, the Moto G9 Play also counts with a much more mega-pixels camera in the back, faster 60 fps video frame rates and a much larger back camera sensor.
Motorola Moto G9 Play features a much longer battery lifetime than Xperia 1, because it has a 50 percent larger battery capacity.
