Comparison review

The Xperia 1 has an overall score of 82.6, which is a little bit better than Moto Z3 Play's global score of 76.3. Even though Xperia 1 is newer than the Moto Z3 Play, it is heavier and thicker. Xperia 1 has a more vivid display than Moto Z3 Play, because it has a lot better 1644 x 3840 resolution, a lot higher screen density and a bit bigger screen.

The Motorola Moto Z3 Play counts with a bit bigger storage capacity to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Xperia 1, because although it has less internal storage capacity, it also counts with an external memory card slot that admits a maximum of 1,95 TB. The Sony Xperia 1 has a little faster processing unit than Motorola Moto Z3 Play, and although they both have 8 CPU cores, the Sony Xperia 1 also has a larger amount of RAM memory.

Xperia 1 features just a bit better battery lifetime than Moto Z3 Play, because it has a 3330mAh battery size instead of 3000mAh. The Sony Xperia 1 has a slightly better camera than Moto Z3 Play, because although it has worse video frame rate and a smaller sensor shooting worse quality images, and they both have a same resolution back-facing camera and the same (4K) video resolution, the Sony Xperia 1 also counts with a bigger aperture for better captures and videos in low light environments.

Although Sony Xperia 1 is a better device, it is way more expensive than the Motorola Moto Z3 Play, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Motorola Moto Z3 Play. If you want to save a few dollars, you can buy the Motorola Moto Z3 Play, and give up some specs and features, but you will get the most with your money.
