Comparison review

The Xperia 1 is a little bit better than the Galaxy Alpha, getting an 82.6 score against 76.3. Even being the best we compare here, the Xperia 1 is a way heavier and thicker phone than Galaxy Alpha. The Xperia 1 has a little bit better processing power than Samsung Galaxy Alpha, because although it has doesn't have an additional GPU, it also counts with a larger number of cores and more RAM memory.

Xperia 1 features a more vivid display than Galaxy Alpha, because it has a way larger display, a way better number of pixels per inch in the display and a lot higher resolution of 1644 x 3840. Xperia 1 shoots clearer photos and videos than Galaxy Alpha, because although it has slower video frame rate, and they both have a same resolution back camera and the same 3840x2160 (4K) video definition, the Xperia 1 also counts with a much bigger diafragm aperture to capture better captures and video in poorly lited situations.

The Xperia 1 features a lot bigger memory for applications and games than Samsung Galaxy Alpha, because it has a slot for external memory cards that allows up to 512 GB and 128 GB internal storage. Xperia 1 features a really longer battery lifetime than Galaxy Alpha, because it has 3330mAh of battery capacity against 1860mAh.

Although Sony Xperia 1 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Samsung Galaxy Alpha. So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy the Sony Xperia 1, but if you don't you can save a couple dollars and get the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, letting go a couple features and specifications.
