Comparison review

The Xperia 1 has an overall score of 82.6, which is slightly better than Galaxy S5's 80.8 overall score. Xperia 1 is a somewhat heavier cellphone than the Galaxy S5, but both of them are equally thin. The Galaxy S5 has a bit sharper screen than Xperia 1, although it has a bit less pixels per screen inch, a much smaller screen and a lot worse resolution of 1920 x 1080px.

Xperia 1 features a little better performance than Galaxy S5, because although it has doesn't have a GPU, it also counts with a greater number of cores and a larger amount of RAM. The Xperia 1 features much more storage capacity for games and applications than Samsung Galaxy S5, because it has an external memory card slot that admits a maximum of 512 GB and 128 GB internal storage.

Galaxy S5 shoots a little bit better photos and videos than Sony Xperia 1, because although it has a lot tinier camera aperture, and they both have the same video resolution and the same back-facing camera sensor size, the Galaxy S5 also counts with faster video frame rate and a back facing camera with lot more mega pixels.

Xperia 1 features improved battery lifetime than Samsung Galaxy S5, because it has 3330mAh of battery capacity.

Although Xperia 1 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Galaxy S5, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Galaxy S5. If you are trying to save some money, you can get the Galaxy S5, letting go a few specs and features, but you'll get the most with your money.
