Comparison review
The Xperia 5 II is slightly better than Galaxy S8, getting a overall score of 87.2 against 81.7. The Xperia 5 II body has the same thickness than the Galaxy S8, but it's a little heavier. Galaxy S8 features a little bit better looking screen than Sony Xperia 5 II, because although it has a bit smaller display, it also counts with a higher count of pixels per inch in the screen and a higher resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels.
Xperia 5 II has a much bigger memory capacity to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Samsung Galaxy S8, because it has 128 GB internal storage and a SD extension slot that holds up to 1000 GB. The Xperia 5 II has a little better performance than Samsung Galaxy S8, and although they both have a Octa-Core processing unit, the Xperia 5 II also has more RAM memory.
Sony Xperia 5 II has a bit better camera than Samsung Galaxy S8, and although they both have the same 3840x2160 video resolution, a same size camera aperture and the same resolution back camera, the Sony Xperia 5 II also has higher 120 fps video frame rate and a way bigger back-facing camera sensor capturing much better quality pictures.

Although Sony Xperia 5 II is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Galaxy S8, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Galaxy S8. If you want to save a few dollars, you can buy the Galaxy S8, and give up a couple features, but you'll get the most out of your savings.
