Comparison review
The Xperia 5 II is a little bit better than the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, getting an 87.2 score against 81.9. Xperia 5 II is a much newer cellphone, and it is also way thinner and lighter than Samsung Galaxy S8 Active. The Xperia 5 II counts with a little bit better processing power than Galaxy S8 Active, and although they both have a Octa-Core CPU, the Xperia 5 II also has a larger amount of RAM.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active features a bit better looking screen than Sony Xperia 5 II, because although it has a bit smaller display, it also counts with a higher 1440 x 2960 resolution and a greater pixels density. The Sony Xperia 5 II counts with a superior storage capacity for games and applications than Galaxy S8 Active, because it has a slot for an external memory card that allows up to 1000 GB and 128 GB internal storage capacity.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active features a battery duration that's very similar to the battery life in Sony Xperia 5 II. The Xperia 5 II shoots slightly better photos and videos than Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, and although they both have the same (4K) video resolution, a 12 mega-pixels resolution back facing camera and a same size aperture, the Xperia 5 II also has a way larger back camera sensor providing a way higher image quality and better video frame rates.
Although Xperia 5 II is a better device, it is way more expensive than Galaxy S8 Active, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Galaxy S8 Active. If you are trying to save a few dollars, you can get Galaxy S8 Active, letting go a few specs and features, but you will get the most with your money.
