Comparison review
The Huawei Mate 40 Pro has a general score of 90.9, which is just a bit better than the Xperia 5 III's 90.5 overall score. Even though Huawei Mate 40 Pro is a better phone than Xperia 5 III, we must tell that it's also a somewhat thicker and much heavier phone. These devices come with Android OS (operating system), but the Huawei Mate 40 Pro has the previous 10 version and Xperia 5 III has Android 11.
The Huawei Mate 40 Pro features a little better performance than Xperia 5 III. Both have a Octa-Core processor and the same RAM amount. Huawei Mate 40 Pro has a little bit better looking screen than Xperia 5 III, because it has a slightly higher resolution of 1334 x 2772 pixels, a quite bigger screen and a little better screen density.
The Huawei Mate 40 Pro has a better camera than Xperia 5 III, because although it has lower 60 fps video frame rates and a smaller camera aperture which is not good for taking images or videos in low-light situations, and they both have the same video definition, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro also counts with a way bigger camera sensor providing a lot higher image quality and a back facing camera with lot more megapixels.
The Sony Xperia 5 III features a very superior storage for applications, games, photos and videos than Huawei Mate 40 Pro, and although they both have exactly the same internal storage capacity, the Sony Xperia 5 III also has a SD memory card expansion slot that holds a maximum of 1 TB. The Sony Xperia 5 III counts with a little better battery duration than Huawei Mate 40 Pro, because it has 4500mAh of battery capacity.
