Huawei Mate 8 has an overall score of 77.4, which is a little bit better than the Xperia X's 72.9 global score. Despite being the best in this review, the Huawei Mate 8 is a heavier and just a little bit thicker device than Xperia X. Huawei Mate 8 counts with a little faster processing unit than Xperia X, because it has more RAM and a larger number of cores.
Sony Xperia X counts with a little sharper screen than Huawei Mate 8, because although it has a little bit smaller screen, and they both have the same 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution, the Sony Xperia X also counts with a just a little greater count of pixels in each screen inch. The Xperia X captures clearer photos and videos than Huawei Mate 8, and although they both have the same 1920x1080 (Full HD) video resolution, the same 60 frames per second video frame rates and a same size diafragm aperture, the Xperia X also has a back facing camera with a much higher 23 MP resolution.
The Huawei Mate 8 counts with much more storage capacity to install games and applications than Xperia X, because although it has a SD extension slot that allows up to 128 GB against 200 GB, it also counts with 128 GB internal memory. Huawei Mate 8 has a very superior battery lifetime than Sony Xperia X, because it has 4000mAh of battery capacity.
Although Huawei Mate 8 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Xperia X, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Xperia X. If you want to save some money, you can get the Xperia X, letting go some specs and features, but you will get the most out of your budget.
