The Sony Xperia XA2 Plus is slightly better than the Motorola Edge 40, getting a 78.6 score against 77.2. Both phones in this comparison review have Android OS, but Sony Xperia XA2 Plus has newer 8.0 Oreo version and Motorola Edge 40 has Android 13 version, so it counts with a couple additional features and better performance. Sony Xperia XA2 Plus's design is notably older, notably thicker and somewhat heavier than the Motorola Edge 40.

The Xperia XA2 Plus features a much faster processor than Motorola Edge 40, although it has less RAM memory, they both have 8 CPU cores. Motorola Edge 40 features a little sharper display than Sony Xperia XA2 Plus, because it has a lot brighter display, a little bit more pixels per screen inch, a slightly better 1080 x 2400 resolution and a bit bigger display.

The Motorola Edge 40 features a much better camera than Xperia XA2 Plus, and although they both have the same 30 frames per second video frame rate and the same 3840x2160 video resolution, the Motorola Edge 40 also has a much more mega-pixels back-facing camera, a lot bigger camera aperture for better low-light captures and a way bigger back camera sensor taking more light and vivid colors.

Xperia XA2 Plus features a bigger memory to store more games and applications than Motorola Edge 40, because although it has only 64 GB internal storage, it also counts with an external memory card slot that allows a maximum of 400 GB. Motorola Edge 40 features longer battery performance than Xperia XA2 Plus, because it has 4400mAh of battery capacity instead of 3580mAh.
