IPhone 7 has a general score of 81.6, which is better than Xperia XZ's overall score of 73.5. Although the iPhone 7 and the Xperia XZ were released only 1 months apart, the iPhone 7 is lighter and somewhat thinner. IPhone 7 counts with a screen that's very similar to the screen in Xperia XZ, although the iPhone 7 has a just a bit less pixels per inch of display, a little smaller screen and a lot worse resolution of 750 x 1334.
The iPhone 7 counts with a way bigger storage capacity to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Sony Xperia XZ, because although it has no slot for SD memory cards, it also counts with more internal memory. Apple iPhone 7 features just a little better hardware performance than Xperia XZ, although it has less RAM, they both have a Quad-Core processing unit.
Xperia XZ counts with a very superior battery performance than Apple iPhone 7, because it has a 2900mAh battery capacity against 1960mAh. The Xperia XZ features a little bit better camera than iPhone 7, because although it has a smaller diafragm aperture which is not favorable for shooting photos and video in low light situations, and they both have the same (4K) video resolution and the same video frame rates, the Xperia XZ also counts with a way higher 23 MP resolution back-facing camera and a way bigger camera sensor taking more light and vivid colors.
Although iPhone 7 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Sony Xperia XZ, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Sony Xperia XZ. If you want to save a few dollars, you can buy Sony Xperia XZ, and give up a couple features and specs, but you will get the most out of your savings.
