Comparison review
Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) is slightly better than Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact, with a global score of 79.2 against 74.6. Although Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) and Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact were released with only a couple months difference, Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018)'s body is somewhat heavier but also somewhat thinner.
Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) has just a bit better display than Xperia XZ1 Compact, because it has more pixels per inch of display, a much better 1080 x 2220 resolution and a bigger screen. The Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact counts with a bit better performance than Galaxy A8 (2018). Both have the same number of cores and the same RAM amount.
The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) has a much bigger memory capacity for games and applications than Xperia XZ1 Compact, and although they both have a slot for external memory cards that allows a maximum of 256 GB, the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) also has more internal storage. Galaxy A8 (2018) counts with a little longer battery life than Xperia XZ1 Compact, because it has 3000mAh of battery capacity instead of 2700mAh.
The Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact shoots much better photos and videos than Galaxy A8 (2018), because although it has a smaller diafragm aperture which is worse for low-light captures, it also counts with a better 19 megapixels resolution back facing camera and a lot better (4K) video definition.
