Xperia 1 III is a lot better than Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact, having a global score of 93.3 against 74.6. Xperia 1 III is a noticeably newer and somewhat thinner cellphone than Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact, although it is also extremely heavier. The Xperia 1 III has a much sharper display than Xperia XZ1 Compact, because it has a lot more pixels per screen inch, a really bigger screen and a way higher resolution of 1644 x 3840.
The Xperia 1 III counts with a bit better hardware performance than Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact, and although they both have a Octa-Core processing unit, the Xperia 1 III also has a larger amount of RAM. The Sony Xperia 1 III has a lot bigger storage capacity for games and applications than Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact, because it has a slot for SD memory cards that holds a maximum of 1 TB and 256 GB internal storage.
The Sony Xperia 1 III has a superior battery lifetime than Xperia XZ1 Compact, because it has a 4500mAh battery capacity instead of 2700mAh. The Sony Xperia 1 III shoots slightly better pictures and videos than Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact, because although it has a much less mega-pixels resolution back camera and a worse 3840x2160 (4K) video definition, it also counts with a lot bigger sensor providing a much higher image quality and a bigger aperture to capture better images and video in poorly lited situations.
Sony Xperia 1 III is way more expensive than Xperia XZ1 Compact, but it's still a convenient choice, as you can get a better phone for that extra money.
