The Motorola Edge 40 Pro is a bit better than the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact, with a score of 83.4 against 79. Both phones in this review include Android OS (Operating System), but the Motorola Edge 40 Pro has older 13 version while Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact has Android 8.0 Oreo version. Even though the Motorola Edge 40 Pro is heavier than Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact, it's a lot thinner and extremely newer.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact has a much better performing processing unit than Motorola Edge 40 Pro, although it has a smaller amount of RAM, they both have the same number of cores. The Xperia XZ2 Compact counts with a little bit better looking display than Motorola Edge 40 Pro, because although it has way less brightness, a really smaller display and a little worse 1080 x 2160px resolution, it also counts with a quite greater quantity of pixels per inch of screen.

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro captures a lot better photos and videos than Xperia XZ2 Compact, because it has a way better 50 megapixels resolution back camera, a much better video definition, a larger camera aperture to take better low-light photography and a way bigger back-facing camera sensor capturing way better quality photographs and videos.

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro has a bigger storage capacity for applications, games, photos and videos than Xperia XZ2 Compact, because although it has no slot for SD memory cards, it also counts with 256 GB internal storage capacity. Motorola Edge 40 Pro features a really longer battery duration than Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact, because it has a 4600mAh battery size.
