The Samsung Galaxy Note8 is a little bit better than Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact, having a score of 83 against 79. Both phones in this review work with Android operating system, but Samsung Galaxy Note8 has 9.0 Pie version while Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact has Android 8.0 Oreo version. Samsung Galaxy Note8's design is somewhat heavier but noticeably thinner than the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact, and both were released only 7 months apart.

Xperia XZ2 Compact counts with a little more vivid display than Samsung Galaxy Note8, although it has a much lower resolution of 1080 x 2160px, a bit lower pixel density and a lot smaller screen. Xperia XZ2 Compact counts with a little bit more storage to install games and applications than Samsung Galaxy Note8, and although they both have the same internal memory capacity, the Xperia XZ2 Compact also has an external memory card slot that supports up to 400 GB.

The Galaxy Note8 has just a little better battery performance than Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact, because it has a 15 percent larger battery size.
