The Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium has a global score of 82.2, which is just a bit better than the Moto Z3 Play's 76.3 general score. Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium is an a lot heavier and noticeably thicker phone than Moto Z3 Play. The Xperia XZ2 Premium has a much more vibrant screen than Motorola Moto Z3 Play, because although it has a little smaller screen, it also counts with a way higher pixel density and a much higher resolution of 2160 x 3840.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium has a little faster processor than Moto Z3 Play, and although they both have 8 processing cores, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium also has a greater amount of RAM memory. Moto Z3 Play counts with a much bigger memory capacity for applications, games, photos and videos than Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium, and although they both have the same internal storage, the Moto Z3 Play also has a slot for an external memory card that holds a maximum of 1,95 TB.

Xperia XZ2 Premium features longer battery performance than Motorola Moto Z3 Play, because it has a 3540mAh battery capacity. The Xperia XZ2 Premium features a little bit better camera than Moto Z3 Play, because although it has a tinier diafragm aperture which is not nice for low light captures and video, and they both have the same 3840x2160 video resolution and the same 30 fps video frame rate, the Xperia XZ2 Premium also counts with a bigger camera sensor providing a better image quality and a camera in the back with a lot higher 19 megapixels resolution.

Although Xperia XZ2 Premium is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Motorola Moto Z3 Play, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Motorola Moto Z3 Play. If you prefer to save some dollars, you can get Motorola Moto Z3 Play, giving up some specs and features, but you'll get the most out of your money.
