Samsung Galaxy M40 is just a bit better than the Xperia XZ2 Premium, having an 85 score against 82.2. The Samsung Galaxy M40 is a newer cellphone, and it is also noticeably thinner and extremely lighter than the Xperia XZ2 Premium. The Xperia XZ2 Premium counts with a bit more powerful CPU than Galaxy M40. Both of them have the same RAM memory amount and a Octa-Core processor.
Xperia XZ2 Premium counts with an incredibly better display than Galaxy M40, because although it has a bit smaller display, it also counts with a much higher resolution of 2160 x 3840px and a way greater pixel amount per screen inch.
