Huawei Mate 9 Pro is a little bit better than Xperia XZs, getting a general score of 78.7 against 77.2. Huawei Mate 9 Pro's body is a bit heavier but just a bit thinner than the Xperia XZs, and they were only released 3 months apart. The Huawei Mate 9 Pro counts with a little better hardware performance than Xperia XZs, because it has a higher amount of RAM memory and a larger number of faster cores.
Huawei Mate 9 Pro has just a bit better screen than Sony Xperia XZs, because it has a greater pixels count in each display inch, a better resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a quite larger display. Xperia XZs takes a lot better photographs and videos than Huawei Mate 9 Pro, and although they both have the same 3840x2160 (4K) video quality, the Xperia XZs also has a lot more megapixels camera, a lot larger back-facing camera sensor taking more light and vivid colors, higher 960 fps video frame rates and a bigger camera aperture for better captures in low light situations.

Huawei Mate 9 Pro features a much better battery duration than Xperia XZs, because it has a 4000mAh battery size instead of 2900mAh.
The Huawei Mate 9 Pro costs a bit more than the Sony Xperia XZs, but it's still a good choice, as you can get a much better phone for that extra money.
