The Galaxy S4 has a score of 76.1, which is slightly better than the Sony Xperia Z1's score of 71.5. Even when Galaxy S4 and the Sony Xperia Z1 were released with only 6 months difference, Galaxy S4 is just a little thinner and a lot lighter. Both devices in our current comparison work with the same Android 4.4.2 OS (Operating System).
Sony Xperia Z1 features a little faster processing unit than Samsung Galaxy S4, and although they both have 2 GB of RAM and a Quad-Core CPU, the Sony Xperia Z1 also has a faster graphics co-processor running at 450 megahertz. Sony Xperia Z1 and Galaxy S4 both feature quite similar displays, both of them have a same size screen, the same exact resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a better count of pixels per inch in the display.
The Galaxy S4 features as much memory to store more games and applications as Sony Xperia Z1, they have an external memory card slot that admits a maximum of 64 GB and the same internal memory. Xperia Z1 has a bit superior battery performance than Galaxy S4, because it has a 15% larger battery size.
The Galaxy S4 takes just a bit better pictures and videos than Sony Xperia Z1, although it has a camera in the back with a much worse 13 megapixels resolution, a way smaller back-facing camera sensor, a tinier diafragm aperture which is not so good for low light images and video and a lower video quality.
In addition to being the best phone of the ones we are comparing here, the Galaxy S4 is also a lot cheaper.
