HTC U Ultra has a general score of 77, which is just a bit better than Sony Xperia Z1's 72.8 global score. The HTC U Ultra body is a lot newer and just a bit thinner than the Sony Xperia Z1's, although it is also just a bit heavier. Xperia Z1 counts with a bit more vivid display than HTC U Ultra, although it has a quite smaller display, a lot lower resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a little bit worse count of pixels per inch of display.
Xperia Z1 features just a bit better processing power than HTC U Ultra, because although it has lesser RAM memory, and they both have a Quad-Core processing unit, the Xperia Z1 also counts with an extra graphics co-processor. HTC U Ultra features a better camera than Xperia Z1, because although it has a lot lower 12 mega pixels resolution camera, and they both have the same sensor size, the HTC U Ultra also counts with a larger aperture to capture better photos and videos in low light situations and a much better 3840x2160 video resolution.
The HTC U Ultra counts with a superior memory capacity to install applications and games than Xperia Z1, because it has an external memory card slot that supports up to 1,95 TB and 64 GB internal storage. HTC U Ultra and Xperia Z1 count with incredibly similar battery durations.
Although HTC U Ultra is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Sony Xperia Z1, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Sony Xperia Z1. If you want to save some dollars, you can get the Sony Xperia Z1, letting go a few features and specifications, but you'll get the most out of your budget.
