Huawei Mate 8 is just a bit better than Xperia Z1, with a general score of 77.4 against 72.8. Huawei Mate 8 is a extremely newer and a little bit thinner phone than the Xperia Z1, but it's somewhat heavier. The Huawei Mate 8 features a little bit better hardware performance than Xperia Z1, because although it has doesn't have an extra graphics processing unit, it also counts with more RAM and a higher number of faster cores.

The Huawei Mate 8 features just a bit better camera than Xperia Z1, although it has a much lower 16 megapixels resolution back facing camera and a lower (Full HD) video resolution, they both have the same camera aperture. Huawei Mate 8 has better battery life than Xperia Z1, because it has a 4000mAh battery capacity instead of 3000mAh.
Although Huawei Mate 8 is a better device, it costs a lot more than the Xperia Z1, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Xperia Z1. If you want to save some dollars, you can get the Xperia Z1, giving up a few features and specs, but you will get the most out of your money.
