Comparison review
The Galaxy A42 is much better than the Sony Xperia Z2, with a global score of 87 against 72.9. Both of these phones have Android OS, but Galaxy A42 has the previous 11 version and Sony Xperia Z2 has Android 4.4.4 version. The Galaxy A42 design is way newer than Sony Xperia Z2's, but it's a bit thicker and somewhat heavier.
The Sony Xperia Z2 features a lot better display than Samsung Galaxy A42, because although it has a really smaller display, it also counts with a lot higher pixel count per inch of screen and a better 1920 x 1080px resolution. Samsung Galaxy A42 counts with much more memory to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Sony Xperia Z2, because it has 112 GB more internal storage and a slot for SD memory cards that allows a maximum of 1000 GB.
The Sony Xperia Z2 features a little better processing power than Galaxy A42, because although it has lesser RAM and 4 lesser cpu cores , it also counts with an additional graphics co-processor. Galaxy A42 features a superior battery lifetime than Xperia Z2, because it has 5000mAh of battery capacity.
The Samsung Galaxy A42 captures much clearer photographs and videos than Xperia Z2, and although they both have the same (4K) video quality and the same video frame rates, the Samsung Galaxy A42 also has a back facing camera with much more MP and a larger aperture.
