Comparison review

The Galaxy Note8 has an overall score of 83, which is just a bit better than Xperia Z3's general score of 77.3. Galaxy Note8 is a much newer and a little bit thinner device than Xperia Z3, although it's also somewhat heavier. Both devices in our current comparison come with Android OS (operating system), but the Galaxy Note8 has 9.0 Pie version while Xperia Z3 has Android 4.4.4 version, providing a couple additional features and performance tweaks.

Xperia Z3 features a better display than Galaxy Note8, although it has a bit smaller display, a lot worse resolution of 1920 x 1080px and a just a bit less pixels per inch of display. The Galaxy Note8 counts with a much bigger storage for games and applications than Xperia Z3, because it has more internal storage capacity and an external memory slot that admits a maximum of 256 GB.

The Xperia Z3 features a little better performance than Samsung Galaxy Note8, because although it has an inferior number of cores and a lower amount of RAM, it also counts with a graphics processing unit. The Galaxy Note8 has a bit superior battery performance than Xperia Z3, because it has a 3 percent more battery capacity.

Xperia Z3 shoots slightly better pictures and videos than Galaxy Note8, because although it has a smaller aperture which is not nice for capturing images or videos in low light situations, and they both have the same video frame rate and the same 3840x2160 (4K) video definition, the Xperia Z3 also counts with a bigger sensor capturing higher quality photographs and a back-facing camera with much more megapixels.

Although Galaxy Note8 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Sony Xperia Z3, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as the Sony Xperia Z3. So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy the Galaxy Note8, but if you don't you can save some money and get the Sony Xperia Z3, giving up a couple specs and features.
