The Galaxy S5 Plus has a global score of 78.1, which is slightly better than the Xperia Z3's 77.3 global score. Both phones in this comparison review work with Android OS, but Galaxy S5 Plus has the previous 4.4.2 version while Xperia Z3 has Android 4.4.4 version. Galaxy S5 Plus's construction is just a little bit thinner and somewhat lighter than the Xperia Z3, although both of them were only released 2 months apart.
The Xperia Z3 features a bit better hardware performance than Galaxy S5 Plus, because although it has a weaker graphics processing unit working at 450 MHz, and they both have a Quad-Core CPU, the Xperia Z3 also counts with more RAM. Sony Xperia Z3 counts with just a bit better looking display than Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, because although it has a bit worse screen pixels density, and they both have the same exact 1920 x 1080 resolution, the Sony Xperia Z3 also counts with a bit larger display.
The Sony Xperia Z3 captures just a bit better pictures and videos than Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, and although they both have the same (4K) video resolution and the same video frame rate, the Sony Xperia Z3 also has a way better resolution camera, a larger back-facing camera sensor taking more light and vivid colors and a bigger camera aperture for better low-light images and video.
Xperia Z3 has a much better storage capacity for apps and games than Galaxy S5 Plus, and although they both have a slot for an external memory card that allows a maximum of 128 GB, the Xperia Z3 also has 32 GB internal storage. Xperia Z3 features a little longer battery life than Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, because it has a 14% more battery capacity.
Although Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus is a better device, it is way more expensive than Xperia Z3, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Xperia Z3. So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy the Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, but if you don't you can save some dollars and buy the Xperia Z3, giving up some features and specifications.
