Comparison review
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is slightly better than Sony Xperia Z3+, with a overall score of 77.5 against 73.7. Xiaomi Mi Max 2's body is notably newer, but much heavier and just a little thicker than the Sony Xperia Z3+. Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has just a little better hardware performance than Xperia Z3+, because it has a larger number of 2 GHz cores and a larger amount of RAM.
The Xperia Z3+ features a brighter display than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, because although it has a bit smaller screen, and they both have an equal 1920 x 1080 resolution, the Xperia Z3+ also counts with a bit higher pixel density. The Sony Xperia Z3+ captures slightly better pictures and videos than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, and although they both have the same video quality and the same video frame rates, the Sony Xperia Z3+ also has a lot bigger sensor providing a way better image quality, a camera in the back with a much higher 20.7 mega-pixels resolution and a larger aperture.
Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has a way bigger memory capacity for games and applications than Xperia Z3+, and although they both have a SD memory slot that allows up to 128 GB, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 also has 96 GB more internal storage. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has a much longer battery life than Xperia Z3+, because it has an 81 percent bigger battery size.
Although Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is a better device, it is way more expensive than the Sony Xperia Z3+, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Sony Xperia Z3+. If you prefer to save some dollars, you can get the Sony Xperia Z3+, giving up a few specs and features, but you'll get the most out of your money.
