Motorola Moto Z3 Play has an overall score of 76.3, which is just a bit better than Xperia Z5 Compact's score of 75.1. Although the Motorola Moto Z3 Play is somewhat heavier than Xperia Z5 Compact, it's noticeably thinner and notably newer. The Xperia Z5 Compact has a bit better looking display than Motorola Moto Z3 Play, although it has a lot worse resolution of 1280 x 720px, a little bit inferior pixel count per inch in the display and a way smaller display.
The Xperia Z5 Compact has a bit superior CPU than Moto Z3 Play, because although it has a smaller amount of RAM, and they both have 8 processing cores, the Xperia Z5 Compact also counts with a graphics processor. Xperia Z5 Compact captures a bit better pictures and videos than Motorola Moto Z3 Play, because although it has a tinier aperture which is not favorable for low-light photography, and they both have the same (4K) video resolution and the same video frame rate, the Xperia Z5 Compact also counts with a much better 23 mega-pixels resolution camera and a larger back camera sensor which provides a higher image and video quality.
Moto Z3 Play features a way bigger storage capacity for games and applications than Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, because it has 64 GB internal storage capacity and a SD memory card expansion slot that holds up to 1,95 TB. The Motorola Moto Z3 Play counts with just a bit longer battery duration than Xperia Z5 Compact, because it has a 3000mAh battery size instead of 2700mAh.
Although Moto Z3 Play is a better device, it is more expensive than the Xperia Z5 Compact, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Xperia Z5 Compact. So if you want that extra specs and features, you can buy Moto Z3 Play, but if you don't you can save some money and buy the Xperia Z5 Compact, resigning some specs and features.
