Xperia Z5 Premium is a bit better than the HTC One M9, having a global score of 79.8 against 77.7. Xperia Z5 Premium's design is somewhat thinner but heavier than the HTC One M9, and both were only released 6 months apart. Both of these phones have Android OS (Operating System), but Xperia Z5 Premium has 5.1 version and HTC One M9 has Android 5.0.

The HTC One M9 has a little faster CPU than Xperia Z5 Premium, and although they both have a Octa-Core processor and a 3 GB RAM, the HTC One M9 also has a better graphics co-processor and a 64-bit processor. The Xperia Z5 Premium has a much better display than HTC One M9, because it has a way better screen density, a quite larger screen and a much higher resolution of 3840 x 2160.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium counts with a slightly bigger memory for games and applications than HTC One M9, and although they both have the same 32 GB internal storage capacity, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium also has a slot for an external memory card that admits up to 200 GB. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a slightly better camera than HTC One M9, and although they both have the same (4K) video quality and the same video frame rates, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium also has a larger back-facing camera sensor taking more light and vivid colors, a bigger diafragm aperture to capture better low-light photos and a better resolution back-facing camera.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium features better battery performance than HTC One M9, because it has a 3430mAh battery size.

Although Xperia Z5 Premium is a better device, it costs a lot more than HTC One M9, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the HTC One M9. So if you need that extra features, you can buy the Xperia Z5 Premium, else you can save some money and get the HTC One M9, letting go some specifications.
