The Xperia Z5 Premium is a bit better than the Moto G8 Plus, getting a 79.8 score against 77.6. Although Xperia Z5 Premium is older than Moto G8 Plus, it's construction is a bit lighter and thinner. Sony Xperia Z5 Premium features a much better looking screen than Moto G8 Plus, because although it has a little bit smaller display, it also counts with a much higher resolution of 3840 x 2160px and a lot greater display density.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium features a bit better performance than Moto G8 Plus, because although it has a lower amount of RAM, and they both have 8 processing cores, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium also counts with an additional GPU. The Motorola Moto G8 Plus features a slightly better camera than Xperia Z5 Premium, and although they both have the same (4K) video resolution and the same video frame rate, the Motorola Moto G8 Plus also has a larger sensor taking more light and vivid colors, a bigger diafragm aperture to capture better photography and videos in low light environments and a way higher resolution back facing camera.

The Moto G8 Plus has a lot bigger memory capacity to install games and applications than Xperia Z5 Premium, because it has 64 GB internal memory and a SD memory card expansion slot that allows a maximum of 512 GB. The Moto G8 Plus features a little better battery duration than Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, because it has a 17% bigger battery capacity.
