The Sony Xperia 1 has a global score of 82.6, which is a bit better than the Xperia Z5's 77.6 overall score. Although Sony Xperia 1 is incredibly newer than the Xperia Z5, it is heavier and a little bit thicker. The Sony Xperia 1 has a bit more powerful processor than Xperia Z5, because although it has doesn't have an extra graphics processing unit, and they both have 8 cpu cores, the Sony Xperia 1 also counts with a higher amount of RAM.
Xperia 1 counts with just a bit better looking display than Sony Xperia Z5, because it has a bigger screen, a much better 1644 x 3840 resolution and a much higher screen pixels density. The Xperia Z5 has a slightly better camera than Xperia 1, because although it has a tinier aperture, and they both have the same (4K) video resolution, the Xperia Z5 also counts with a camera with a much better resolution, a larger back camera sensor providing a better image quality and higher 30 frames per second video frame rate.
The Xperia 1 has much more memory for applications, games, photos and videos than Xperia Z5, because it has a SD memory card expansion slot that supports a maximum of 512 GB and more internal storage capacity. The Xperia 1 counts with a bit superior battery performance than Xperia Z5, because it has 3330mAh of battery capacity.
Although Sony Xperia 1 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Sony Xperia Z5, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Sony Xperia Z5. If you prefer to save some money, you can buy the Sony Xperia Z5, and give up a few features and specifications, but you will get the most out of your savings.
