Comparison review
The Xperia Z5 is slightly better than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, having a 77.6 score against 77.5. Although the Xperia Z5 is older than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, it's construction is a bit thinner and extremely lighter. The Sony Xperia Z5 counts with a sharper display than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, because although it has a bit smaller display, and they both have an equal 1920 x 1080px resolution, the Sony Xperia Z5 also counts with a just a bit higher count of pixels in each display inch.
Xiaomi Mi Max 2 features a much bigger storage capacity to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Xperia Z5, because although it has an external memory slot that supports up to 128 GB against 200 GB, it also counts with 128 GB internal storage capacity. The Xperia Z5 counts with a little better performance than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, because although it has a lower amount of RAM, and they both have the same number of cores, the Xperia Z5 also counts with an extra GPU.
The Xperia Z5 features a better camera than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, and although they both have the same video frame rate and the same (4K) video resolution, the Xperia Z5 also has a much bigger camera sensor capturing much better quality videos and pictures, a larger aperture to capture better captures and video in low light environments and a much higher resolution back facing camera.

Although Sony Xperia Z5 is a better device, it is more expensive than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Xiaomi Mi Max 2. If you are trying to save some dollars, you can get the Xiaomi Mi Max 2, letting go a few features and specifications, but you'll get the most with your money.
