Comparison review
Xperia 1 III is better than Xiaomi Mi 8, with a global score of 93.3 against 83.3. Both phones we are comparing include Android OS, but the Xperia 1 III has the newer 11 version while Xiaomi Mi 8 has Android 10 version, providing some nice extra features and increased performance. Xperia 1 III's design is a lot newer, but a little heavier and a little thicker than the Xiaomi Mi 8.
Sony Xperia 1 III features a bit better looking display than Xiaomi Mi 8, because it has a way greater pixels count per inch of screen, a little bit bigger screen and a way better resolution of 1644 x 3840 pixels. Xperia 1 III has much more storage capacity for apps and games than Xiaomi Mi 8, and although they both have the same 256 GB internal storage, the Xperia 1 III also has a SD memory card expansion slot that supports a maximum of 1 TB.
Sony Xperia 1 III has a bit better performance than Xiaomi Mi 8, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Sony Xperia 1 III also has 6 GB more RAM memory. Sony Xperia 1 III captures clearer photos and videos than Xiaomi Mi 8, and although they both have the same 3840x2160 video quality and a same resolution back camera, the Sony Xperia 1 III also has faster 120 frames per second video frame rate, a lot larger sensor which provides a much better photo and video quality and a bigger aperture to take better low light captures and videos.
The Xperia 1 III counts with better battery life than Xiaomi Mi 8, because it has a 32 percent more battery capacity.
