Comparison review
The Xiaomi Mi 8 has a global score of 83.3, which is a bit better than the Xiaomi Mi 9's 83.2 score. Xiaomi Mi 8 is a just a little bit heavier device than the Xiaomi Mi 9, but both of them are equally thin. The Xiaomi Mi 9's CPU is just as good as the processing unit in Xiaomi Mi 8, both have a Octa-Core processing unit and the same RAM amount.
Xiaomi Mi 9 and Xiaomi Mi 8 feature quite similar screens, and although the Xiaomi Mi 9 has a bit better count of pixels in each inch in the screen, a quite bigger display and a slightly higher resolution of 1080 x 2340, they both have the same brightness. The Xiaomi Mi 8 counts with a much greater memory to store more apps and games than Xiaomi Mi 9, because it has 256 GB internal storage.
Xiaomi Mi 9 takes way better photos and videos than Xiaomi Mi 8, and although they both have the same 3840x2160 video resolution and the same aperture, the Xiaomi Mi 9 also has a lot bigger sensor providing a lot better image quality, a way better resolution camera in the back and better video frame rates.
