Comparison review
Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer has an overall score of 91.5, which is a bit better than the Xiaomi Mi 8's 83.3 score. Even though the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer is notably newer than Xiaomi Mi 8, it's somewhat heavier and somewhat thicker. Both phones in our current comparison use Android OS (operating system), but Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer has the newer 12 version and Xiaomi Mi 8 has Android 10, so it counts with some additional features and performance improvements.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 features a bit better processing unit than Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer, although it has 2 GB lesser RAM memory, they both have a Octa-Core CPU. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer features a little more vivid display than Xiaomi Mi 8, because although it has a just a little less pixels per display inch, it also counts with a bit bigger display, a bit higher 1080 x 2400 resolution and a brighter display.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer counts with as much storage capacity for applications and games as the Xiaomi Mi 8 one, both have the same 256 GB internal storage capacity. Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer captures much clearer videos and photos than Xiaomi Mi 8, and although they both have the same 30 frames per second video frame rates and the same 3840x2160 video definition, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer also has a much higher resolution camera in the back, a way larger back-facing camera sensor capturing more light and vivid colors and a bigger aperture to take better photos and videos in poorly lited situations.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer has greater battery performance than Xiaomi Mi 8, because it has a 26% more battery capacity.
