Comparison review
The Huawei Mate 9 Pro has an overall score of 78.7, which is a bit better than the Xiaomi Mi Max 3's 74.9 global score. Both devices in this comparison review come with Android OS, but Huawei Mate 9 Pro has an older 8.0 Oreo version and Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has Android 8.1 Oreo version. The Huawei Mate 9 Pro body is a lot lighter and a bit thinner than Xiaomi Mi Max 3, although it was released around a year before.
The Huawei Mate 9 Pro features just a bit better performance than Xiaomi Mi Max 3, and although they both have a Octa-Core CPU, the Huawei Mate 9 Pro also has a larger amount of RAM memory. Huawei Mate 9 Pro counts with a much better display than Xiaomi Mi Max 3, because although it has a really smaller screen, it also counts with a higher 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution and a much better display pixels density.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 captures just a bit better pictures and videos than Huawei Mate 9 Pro, and although they both have the same resolution camera in the back, the same 3840x2160 (4K) video quality and the same 30 fps video frame rates, the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 also has a larger aperture for better captures in poorly lited situations and a larger back camera sensor which gives a better photo and video quality.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 has a slightly bigger storage capacity to install games and applications than Huawei Mate 9 Pro, because although it has only 64 GB internal memory, it also counts with a slot for external memory cards that allows a maximum of 256 GB. The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 features a superior battery lifetime than Huawei Mate 9 Pro, because it has a 5500mAh battery capacity.
