Galaxy A42 is much better than the Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime, having a overall score of 87 against 71.7. Both of these phones have Android OS, but Galaxy A42 has 11 version while Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime has Android 6.0 Marshmallow version. Even though the Galaxy A42 is somewhat heavier than the Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime, it's a bit thinner and much newer.
The Galaxy A42 has a bit better performance than Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime, and although they both have a Octa-Core processing unit, the Galaxy A42 also has 1 GB more RAM.
