Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S has a global score of 79, which is a bit better than Google Pixel 3a's global score of 78.8. Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S is a newer cellphone than Google Pixel 3a, although it is just a little thicker and extremely heavier. Both of these phones come with the same Android 11 OS (operating system), so you shouldn't see any difference regarding OS features.
Google Pixel 3a counts with a little sharper screen than Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S, because although it has a bit smaller display and a little bit worse 1080 x 2220 resolution, it also counts with a just a little higher screen density. Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S has a much better memory to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Google Pixel 3a, and although they both have exactly the same internal storage, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S also has a slot for external memory cards that supports up to 512 GB.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S has a little bit better processing power than Google Pixel 3a. Both of them have 8 cores and the same RAM memory amount. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S captures much clearer pictures and videos than Google Pixel 3a, and although they both have a same size aperture, the same (4K) video quality and the same 30 frames per second video frame rate, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S also has a much more megapixels camera in the back and a way larger camera sensor providing a much higher image quality.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S counts with a very superior battery duration than Google Pixel 3a, because it has 5020mAh of battery capacity instead of 3000mAh.
Although Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S is a better device, it is more expensive than the Google Pixel 3a, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Google Pixel 3a. If you prefer to save some money, you can get Google Pixel 3a, and give up a couple features and specs, but you will get the most with your savings.
