The Samsung Galaxy Note8 has an overall score of 83, which is much better than the Xiaomi Redmi Y1's 72.1 global score. Although it's the best device in this comparison review, the Samsung Galaxy Note8 design is thicker and much heavier than the Xiaomi Redmi Y1. These phones use Android OS (Operating System), but the Samsung Galaxy Note8 has the newer 9.0 Pie version and Xiaomi Redmi Y1 has Android 7.0 Nougat.

Galaxy Note8 features a bit faster processor than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, and although they both have 8 CPU cores, the Galaxy Note8 also has 2 GB more RAM memory. Galaxy Note8 has a lot better screen than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, because it has a lot higher display pixels density, a lot higher resolution of 1440 x 2960px and a little bit bigger screen.

Samsung Galaxy Note8 features just a bit better camera than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, because although it has a less megapixels camera in the back, it also counts with a much bigger aperture to capture better images in low light situations and a lot higher (4K) video quality. Galaxy Note8 counts with just a bit more memory to store more games and applications than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, and although they both have exactly the same 64 GB internal memory capacity, the Galaxy Note8 also has an external memory card slot that supports up to 256 GB.

Galaxy Note8 counts with just a little bit longer battery performance than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, because it has 3300mAh of battery capacity.

Although Galaxy Note8 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Xiaomi Redmi Y1. So if you want that extra features, you can buy Galaxy Note8, otherwise you can save some dollars and get the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, letting go some specifications.
