Comparison review
Samsung Galaxy S5 is better than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, having an 80.8 score against 72.1. These phones work with Android OS (Operating System), but the Samsung Galaxy S5 has older 4.4.2 version and Xiaomi Redmi Y1 has Android 7.0 Nougat version. Even though the Samsung Galaxy S5 is way older and just a little thicker than the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, it's design is still just a little lighter.
The Galaxy S5 has a bit better processing power than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, because although it has less RAM and 4 less CPU cores (although they are faster), it also counts with an extra GPU. Galaxy S5 has a much more vibrant display than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, because although it has a little smaller screen, it also counts with way more pixels per inch in the screen and a much higher 1920 x 1080 resolution.
The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 features a much bigger storage capacity to store more games and applications than Samsung Galaxy S5, and although they both have a SD memory slot that holds up to 128 GB, the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 also has 64 GB internal memory. Xiaomi Redmi Y1 features a bit better battery life than Galaxy S5, because it has a 10% larger battery capacity.
Galaxy S5 captures much clearer pictures and videos than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, and although they both have a same size camera aperture, the Galaxy S5 also has a better resolution camera and a lot higher 3840x2160 video quality.
Although Samsung Galaxy S5 is a better device, it costs a lot more than the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Xiaomi Redmi Y1. If you are trying to save some money, you can get the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, giving up some specs and features, but you will get the most with your money.
