Comparison review
The Sony Xperia Z5 is just a bit better than the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, with a general score of 77.6 against 72.1. The Sony Xperia Z5 body is just a little thinner than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, but it's a little bit heavier and was released many years before. Both of these phones work with Android OS (operating system), but Sony Xperia Z5 has the previous 5.1 version and Xiaomi Redmi Y1 has Android 7.0 Nougat version.
Sony Xperia Z5 has a much sharper display than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, because although it has a quite smaller display, it also counts with a lot more pixels per display inch and a lot better resolution of 1920 x 1080px. Sony Xperia Z5 has a little faster processing unit than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, because although it has a smaller amount of RAM, and they both have a Octa-Core CPU, the Sony Xperia Z5 also counts with a graphics processor.
Xperia Z5 takes better videos and photos than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, because it has a lot higher video resolution, a bigger aperture for better captures and video in low-light environments and a back-facing camera with a lot better resolution. The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 counts with a bigger storage capacity for games and applications than Xperia Z5, because although it has an external memory card slot that admits a maximum of 128 GB against 200 GB, it also counts with more internal storage.
The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 features just a little bit longer battery lifetime than Sony Xperia Z5, because it has a 3080mAh battery capacity against 2900mAh.
Although Xperia Z5 is a better device, it is way more expensive than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Xiaomi Redmi Y1. If you want to save a few dollars, you can get Xiaomi Redmi Y1, giving up some specs and features, but you will get the most with your money.
