Comparison review
The Xperia Z5 Premium has a score of 79.8, which is much better than Xiaomi Redmi Y1's overall score of 72.1. Both phones we compare here come with Android operating system, but the Xperia Z5 Premium has older 5.1 version and Xiaomi Redmi Y1 has Android 7.0 Nougat. Xperia Z5 Premium is a better cellphone than the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, it must be noted that it is also an a lot older, a bit thicker and heavier cellphone.
Sony Xperia Z5 Premium features a much sharper display than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, and although they both have a display with the same size, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium also has a lot better pixel number per inch of display and a way better 3840 x 2160 resolution. The Xiaomi Redmi Y1 counts with a better memory capacity for games and applications than Xperia Z5 Premium, because although it has an external memory card slot that admits a maximum of 128 GB against 200 GB, it also counts with more internal storage.
Xperia Z5 Premium has a bit more powerful processor than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, because although it has lesser RAM, and they both have a Octa-Core CPU, the Xperia Z5 Premium also counts with an extra graphics processing unit. Xperia Z5 Premium captures much better pictures and videos than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, because it has a lot better 3840x2160 (4K) video definition, a much more MP back camera and a bigger aperture to take better low light captures.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium features a little longer battery duration than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, because it has 3430mAh of battery capacity.
Although Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is a better device, it costs a lot more than the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Xiaomi Redmi Y1. So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, else you can save some dollars and buy the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, resigning some features and specifications.
