Although Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is a better device, it is way more expensive than the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Xiaomi Redmi Y1. So if you need that extra features, you can buy the Xiaomi Mi Max 2, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and get the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, resigning some specifications.
