Acer Stream Review

(S110) Score: 49.5 / 100

Acer Stream is a mid level Android cellphone launched back in 2010, packed with a fast 1 GHz CPU, a 5 megapixels back camera and a medium sized 3.7 inches touch-screen. Let's take a better sight of what this device can give us.

The Acer Stream feels a bit heavy comparing to other cellphones , weighting 4.44 oz. The Acer Stream's thickness of 0.44" is quite far from today's standards, but it still feels quite comfortable in the user's hand.

The Acer Stream includes a very good 3.7-inches screen with a 800 x 480 resolution, which makes it hard to see the pixels forming the screen. Its screen uses AMOLED capacitive technology, and allows multi-touch for gestures like pinch and zoom.

Acer decided to power this cellphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 QSD8250 system chip, holding a fast processing unit clocking at 1000 MHz and 512 MB of RAM. Graphic intensive apps generally uses lots of processing power, so this phone also has an extra 128 megahertz Adreno 200 graphic processing unit to help handle those graphic tasks. This phone counts with a passable 2 GB internal storage memory, which is enough for most users having that the Acer Stream also has an SD memory slot to store photos and videos.

This phone has WiFi connection (but it can't share it with other devices around, acting as a mobile hotspot) and 3G fast internet connection, using HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. This phone works with a SIM card for GSM carriers.

This phone is only equipped with a 5 mega-pixels back facing camera. It is capable of capturing videos up to 1280x720 (HD) at 24 frames per second. This camera also includes geo tagging and auto-focus.

This cellphone features a 1400 mAh medium capacity Li-Ion battery that can keep it running for many hours, although you will probably need to charge it even after moderate use. Acer reports a talk time of 5 hours and a stand by time of 400 hours for this cellphone.

This cellphone also comes with some useful features such as Bluetooth and GPS Localization, and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.
