Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is way better than Acer Iconia A1, having a 67.9 score against 55.4. Both of these tablets use Android OS, but the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a more recent 4.4 version and Acer Iconia A1 has Android 4.1, so it provides the user some additional features and performance tweaks. Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is a newer tablet, and it is also much thinner and a bit lighter than the Acer Iconia A1.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a way better display than Acer Iconia A1, because it has a lot higher 1600 x 2560 resolution, a bit bigger display and a lot greater pixel density. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has much more storage to install applications and games than Acer Iconia A1, because although it has no external SD slot, it also counts with 64 GB internal storage.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 counts with a little better processing power than Acer Iconia A1, because although it has doesn't have an extra GPU, and they both have a Quad-Core processing unit, the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 also counts with a higher amount of RAM memory. Acer Iconia A1 has just a bit better camera than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, although it has a camera with way less MP and a lower 1920x1080 (Full HD) video definition.
The Acer Iconia A1 features a very superior battery lifetime than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9.
Although Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Acer Iconia A1, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Acer Iconia A1. So if you want that extra specs, you can buy the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, but if you don't you can save some dollars and get the Acer Iconia A1, letting go some features and specifications.
