Dell Venue 8 7840 has a global score of 61, which is much better than the Acer Iconia A1's overall score of 55.4. The Dell Venue 8 7840 construction is noticeably lighter and extremely thinner than Acer Iconia A1. Both tablets in our current comparison work with Android OS, but the Dell Venue 8 7840 has a newer 4.4 version while Acer Iconia A1 has Android 4.1, so it provides the user some extra features and enhanced performance.
The Dell Venue 8 7840 counts with a much greater processing power than Acer Iconia A1, and although they both have 4 cores, the Dell Venue 8 7840 also has a greater amount of RAM, a 64-bit processing unit and a much better graphics processor running at 600 megahertz. Dell Venue 8 7840 counts with a sharper screen than Acer Iconia A1, because it has a little larger display, a lot better pixels density and a lot higher resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels.
Dell Venue 8 7840 has a much better storage to install games and applications than Acer Iconia A1, and although they both have the same 16 GB internal storage capacity, the Dell Venue 8 7840 also has an external memory slot that allows a maximum of 512 GB. The Acer Iconia A1 features a superior battery duration than Dell Venue 8 7840.
The Acer Iconia A1 takes clearer photographs and videos than Dell Venue 8 7840, although it has a camera with way less mega pixels.
Although Dell Venue 8 7840 is a better device, it is way more expensive than Acer Iconia A1, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Acer Iconia A1. If you are trying to save a few dollars, you can buy Acer Iconia A1, and give up a few features and specifications, but you'll get the most out of your budget.
